SEVENTH BIENNIAL EMERGY RESEARCH CONFERENCE

Background:
This is the seventh in an ongoing series of biennial meetings held on the campus of the University of Florida. The purpose is to provide a venue and forum for meaningful discussion expressly dedicated to theory, principles, and applications of the emergy methodology.

Meeting Organization:
The meeting will be organized into two and a half days of presentations (Thursday, Friday and Saturday January 12- 14, 2012). Papers on theory, methodology, and applications of emergy are welcome. As always, we will allow self-organization to prevail. Participants are encouraged to contact colleagues and friends to develop a "set of papers" that somehow reinforce each other around a particular theme. Should this occur, send us an email suggesting the subject of the theme and titles of the papers. In case there are no self-organized themes, we will organize papers into sessions in November. This year, there will also be a Prosperous Way Down pre-conference workshop. More details can be found here.

Papers and Posters
Participants are encouraged to present a 20 minute paper on new developments related to theory, methods and/or applications of emergy synthesis. We will also have a special poster session for those wishing to present topics which may foster more detailed discussion. As always, we will try to avoid parallel sessions and so we may not have enough time for all papers and therefore may be selective for oral presentations. Contributions not selected as oral presentations will certainly be included in the poster session.

Publication of Proceedings
The proceedings will be published. Each participant should bring a 10-page manuscript of their oral presentation to the conference (electronic copy please, see author guidelines). Papers will be peer-reviewed and comments returned to authors within several months of the conference for final revisions. There will be a deadline strictly enforced for submission of papers (3 months from the conference) and for reviews (additional 3 months).
